MULTI-AWARD-WINNING
DISABLED-LED
THEATRE COMPANY
↡
Hi, I’m Nye!
I am a multi award-winning theatre writer-performer based in Cardiff, trained in contemporary theatre at the University of Chichester.
My Disabled-led theatre company 'StammerMouth’ was created to express the hard-to-discuss, using lived-experience, absurd comedy, and (f)uncomfortable audience participation.
StammerMouth is the recipient of a Fringe First Award, the Mental Health Foundation Award, and the TicketSource Festival Favourite Award.
Off-stage, I work as a creative access resource for theatre companies, venues, and artists across the UK. I am also the Performing Arts Officer for Disability Arts Cymru, and a community tutor for Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
My artistic practice is supported by Unlimited, STAMMA UK, MGC Futures, Arts Council of Wales, and British Council.
Creative access sits at the heart of StammerMouth’s creative mission, integrating British Sign Language interpretation, audio description, touch tours, captioning, and relaxed performances amongst absurd comedy, a DIY aesthetic, and audience participation.

VISION
A world where we learned form the pandemic and took things slower, with personal wellbeing at the forefront.
Creative access in all productions, giving priority to Deaf Disabled and Neurodivergent creatives.
MISSION
StammerMouth exists to make theatre about the difficult-to-discuss, from a place of empowerment, raising awareness and solidarity.
We like to talk about these things BECAUSE they are hard to talk about.
So far we have successfully shared award-winning stories about stammering and anxiety, OCD and intrusive thoughts, stemming from our lived experience.
VALUES
Access in theatre should be creative and ALWAYS considered in the artistic vision from day one. We integrate access in fun, playful ways which enhance the story, and storytelling experience. We’ve used BSL, captions, audio description, touch tours, and relaxed performance in these ways
